These terms are handled under Michigan law. If there is ever a dispute we cannot resolve directly, it will be handled in Michigan.

1. Ordering & Pickup

Your selected pickup time slot must be at least 48 hours after the time your order is placed.

All products are local pickup only at our cottage food bakery location. We do not ship orders.

Pickup times are based on the available pickup windows shown at checkout. We do not accept pickups outside of the scheduled pickup windows unless we have approved it ahead of time.

If you cannot make your pickup window, please call or text us as soon as possible before or during your pickup window.

Missed pickups are handled under Section 2: Payments, Cancellations & Store Credit.

2. Payments, Cancellations & Store Credit

Because we bake to order and our products are perishable, all sales are final once an order is placed and paid for.

We send order updates by email when your order is placed, when we start preparing your order, and when your order is ready for pickup.

If you need to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. If we have not started preparing your order yet, we will place a credit equal to your payment into your Loyalty / Credit account. This credit can only be used toward future purchases from Butter Me Up Bakery.

A customer account is required to receive store credit. If you checked out as a guest, you will need to create an account before the credit can be added.

Once we begin preparing your order, we are unable to cancel the order or provide store credit.

If you do not contact us and do not pick up your order, the order will be considered missed. Missed pickup orders are not eligible for store credit.

If Butter Me Up Bakery has to cancel your order, we will return the payment to the original payment method. If you paid with a gift certificate, store credit, or rewards balance, that amount will be returned to your account or gift certificate balance instead.

3. Account and Checkout

You may place regular food orders as a guest or through a customer account.

You are responsible for entering accurate checkout information, including your name, email address, and phone number.

You are also responsible for choosing an available pickup window during checkout.

We use the email address you provide to send order updates, including when your order is placed, when we start preparing it, and when it is ready for pickup. If you do not receive an email confirmation within a reasonable time, please check your spam folder, as your email provider may have sent the notification there.

Gift certificate purchases require a customer account. Guests cannot purchase gift certificates.

4. Gift Certificates
Butter Me Up Bakery is a Michigan cottage food bakery. All purchases must be picked up in person at our cottage food bakery location.

Before buying a gift certificate, please make sure the person receiving it is able to pick up their order from our cottage food bakery location. We do not ship orders.

In order to purchase a gift certificate, you must have an account on buttermeupbakery.com. You may open an account by clicking Register at the top of any page.

An account is not required to use a gift certificate balance during checkout.

Gift certificates are non-refundable.

Gift certificates do not expire. They remain valid until the full balance has been used.

Gift certificates have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Gift certificates can only be used for purchases on the Butter Me Up Bakery website. They cannot be used to purchase additional gift certificates.

A gift certificate can be used by anyone who has the gift certificate code. Please keep the code private. We are not responsible if someone else gets the code and uses the gift certificate.

After checkout, the buyer can customize and send the gift certificate from their customer account dashboard by entering the recipient’s name, recipient’s email address, and an optional message.

Once a gift certificate has been sent to the recipient, the buyer cannot make changes to it.

If you accidentally send a gift certificate to the wrong email address, please contact us through the gift certificate section of your account so we can review the issue and help correct it if possible.

If a gift certificate has not been sent yet, the buyer may choose to send it to themselves. This allows the buyer to use the gift certificate code for their own future purchases.

5. Loyalty / Credit Account and Promo Codes

Your Loyalty / Credit account may include a loyalty balance.

Your loyalty balance is site credit only. It can be used only on buttermeupbakery.com for eligible purchases.

Loyalty balances have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another person, used outside buttermeupbakery.com, or used to buy gift certificates.

Your loyalty balance does not expire as long as your account remains open.

If you choose to close your account, any unused loyalty balance will be lost.

Loyalty rewards are earned as a 5% credit on eligible purchases.

When you buy a gift certificate, that gift certificate purchase does not earn loyalty rewards.

Loyalty rewards are calculated after promo codes, gift certificate balances, or Loyalty / Credit account balances have been applied.

6. Food Safety, Allergens & Product Variations

Butter Me Up Bakery operates as a Michigan cottage food bakery.

Our products are made in a home kitchen that has not been inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development.

We make products that may contain or come into contact with common allergens, including wheat, milk, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, and other ingredients.

We do our best to list ingredients and allergen information accurately, but we cannot guarantee that any product is allergen-free.

If you or the person eating our products has a food allergy, sensitivity, medical dietary restriction, or other serious food concern, please do not place an order unless you are comfortable with the risk of cross-contact in a home kitchen.

We are not able to guarantee an allergen-free product or an allergen-free preparation environment.

We may decline or cancel an order if we believe we cannot safely or responsibly fulfill the order because of an allergy, sensitivity, medical dietary restriction, or other food safety concern.

Because our products are handmade, there may be small differences in size, shape, color, decoration, texture, or appearance from one order to another.

Product photos are provided as examples. The product you receive may not look exactly like the photo shown on the website.

7. Website, Payments & Third-Party Services

Butter Me Up Bakery may use third-party services to operate the website, process payments, and support checkout.

Payment options may include Stripe, PayPal, Venmo, gift certificates, Loyalty / Credit account balances, or other payment methods shown at checkout.

When you pay by credit card, debit card, PayPal, Venmo, or another third-party payment method, your payment may be handled by that third-party provider. Your use of that payment method may also be subject to the provider’s own terms, policies, and privacy practices.

Butter Me Up Bakery does not store your full credit card or debit card number on our website server.

We make reasonable efforts to keep the website accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee that the website, checkout system, account system, gift certificate system, promo codes, loyalty balances, or payment services will always be error-free or available.

If there is an obvious pricing error, product description error, technical error, payment error, promo code error, loyalty balance error, gift certificate error, or checkout error, we reserve the right to correct the mistake.

If an error affects an order you placed, we may contact you to correct the order, cancel the order, return payment, or offer another reasonable solution.

8. Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect customer information.

By using this website or placing an order, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy is separate from these Terms of Use.

9. Changes to These Terms

Butter Me Up Bakery may update these Terms of Use from time to time.

When we update these Terms, we will change the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.

The version posted on the website at the time you use the website or place an order is the version that applies.
