1. Information We Collect
We collect the information needed to operate our website, manage customer accounts, process orders, provide pickup information, manage gift certificates, manage Loyalty / Credit account balances, and communicate with customers.
This may include your name, email address, phone number, account login information, physical address, order history, pickup date and pickup window, product selections, order notes, payment status, gift certificate activity, loyalty balance activity, store credit activity, promo code usage, and messages or requests you send to us.
For gift certificates, we may collect the buyer’s account information, recipient name, recipient email address, gift certificate code, gift certificate balance, send status, and optional gift message.
We may also collect technical information automatically when you use the website, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring pages, approximate location based on technical data, session activity, cart activity, and basic security or error logs.
2. How We Use Information
We use customer information to operate the website, create and manage accounts, process orders, schedule pickups, send order updates, provide customer support, manage gift certificates, manage Loyalty / Credit account balances, apply promo codes, prevent misuse of the website, and keep business records.
We may use your contact information to send transactional messages, including account messages, order confirmations, order status updates, pickup reminders, gift certificate messages, account balance messages, and customer service replies.
We may use website activity and analytics information to understand how customers use the website, improve the checkout process, fix technical issues, measure advertising performance, and make internal business decisions.
We may use information when needed to comply with applicable laws, respond to legal requests, enforce our Terms of Use, protect our business, protect customers, or investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or security issues.
3. Accounts, Orders & Pickup
You may place regular food orders as a guest or through a customer account. Gift certificate purchases require a customer account.
When you place an order, we collect information needed to prepare the order, contact you about the order, and make the order available for local pickup at our cottage food bakery location.
We use the email address and phone number you provide to send order updates, pickup reminders, and customer service messages related to your order.
We may keep order history and pickup records for business, customer service, accounting, tax, legal, fraud prevention, and operational purposes.
4. Gift Certificates, Loyalty Balances & Store Credit
We collect and store information needed to create, send, redeem, track, and support gift certificates. This may include buyer account information, recipient name, recipient email address, optional gift message, gift certificate code, gift certificate balance, purchase date, send date, redemption activity, and related customer service notes.
Gift certificate codes may be used by anyone who has the code. Because of this, we may keep records of gift certificate activity to help confirm balance, redemption history, and customer support issues.
We collect and store information needed to manage Loyalty / Credit account balances, including earned loyalty rewards, store credit, balance adjustments, balance use, order credits, and related account activity.
If you request account deletion and your account has an active gift certificate, store credit, or loyalty balance, we may need to keep certain records or handle the request according to our Terms of Use, gift certificate terms, accounting requirements, and applicable law.
5. Payments & Third-Party Processors
Payment options may include Stripe, PayPal, Venmo, gift certificates, Loyalty / Credit account balances, or other payment methods shown at checkout.
Credit card, debit card, PayPal, Venmo, and similar payments are processed by third-party payment providers. Butter Me Up Bakery does not store your full credit card or debit card number on our website server.
Third-party payment providers may collect, process, and store payment information according to their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, and legal requirements.
We may receive and store limited payment-related information, such as payment status, transaction identifiers, order totals, refund status, processor messages, and records needed for accounting, customer support, fraud prevention, and order management.
7. Marketing Communications
If you choose to opt in, we may use your email address to send marketing messages, such as menu updates, product announcements, seasonal reminders, promotions, or bakery news.
You may opt out of marketing emails. Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may still send transactional or account-related messages, such as order updates, pickup reminders, gift certificate messages, account notices, and customer service replies.
We may use advertising tools, such as Facebook/Meta tracking or Google Analytics 4, to understand whether our advertising is effective. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and operational measures to protect customer information.
No website, database, payment system, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account login information private and for contacting us if you believe your account, gift certificate code, or personal information has been misused.
Gift certificate codes should be treated like a form of store value. Anyone who has the code may be able to use it. Please keep gift certificate codes private.
10. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep customer information for as long as reasonably needed to operate the website, manage orders, support customer accounts, maintain gift certificate records, maintain Loyalty / Credit account records, provide customer service, comply with legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Use.
Account data may be maintained for up to 5 years from your last login date or last account activity. After 5 years of inactivity, accounts may be closed and personal data may be deleted, anonymized, or archived where appropriate.
Some records may need to be kept longer when needed for gift certificate balances, store credit balances, loyalty balances, tax records, accounting records, legal compliance, security logs, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or backup systems.
You may request a copy of your personal information or request account deletion by emailing admin@buttermeupbakery.com.
If you request deletion, we may need to verify your identity before processing the request. We may deny, delay, limit, or modify a deletion request when keeping certain information is necessary for legal, accounting, security, fraud prevention, dispute, gift certificate, store credit, loyalty balance, or business record purposes.
